In the role of open source database specialist, you are a technical expert available to support our clients at both operational and tactical levels with open source database issues, both in and outside the cloud, and play a prominent role in projects.
As an open source database specialist, you are not just an engineer. You are a key player in CI/CD development processes and in getting and maintaining complex database environments up and running. Especially in complex environments where high availability is a must, the role of the open source database specialist is crucial. You will design, implement, perform platform performance tuning, and also query tuning. You are a trusted advisor in the context of improvement proposals, applied tooling, monitoring, and the overall landscape. A good overview is a requirement to make the system function optimally. You independently conduct health checks or quick scans and prepare reports with conclusions and recommendations. You advise the client on which recommendations you, as an open source database specialist on behalf of OptimaData, can implement and which prioritization is best suited to the client's situation.
Additionally, you are actively involved in the (further) development of our services and the initiation of new tools and products specifically for open source platforms. Furthermore, within OptimaData Consultancy, you are the focal point for general database issues and cases, and it is your responsibility to expand, keep track of, and document our knowledge and expertise in the field of open source databases. Part of your role also includes participating in skills uplift at OptimaData Training, blogging about interesting topics, attending events, meetups, lightning Fridays & game days. Giving training in the future is also a possibility if that aligns with your ambitions.
Technology is evolving rapidly. The unstoppable migration to the Cloud, new business requirements, dynamic workloads, and a drive for cost efficiency mean that companies increasingly need to maintain and enhance their current database environments. The growing migration to open source database management systems also requires knowledge and know-how.
OptimaData aims to support its clients in these developments with knowledge, expertise, and the right people in the right positions.
Our ambition is to become a market leader as a database service provider in the Netherlands and beyond. Expertise and continuous learning are a priority for us to provide added value to our clients. Your personal growth and development are not just something we offer; it is a must. We set high standards for our database experts and consultants to maintain this level of quality.
No one stands still with us. If you are fully up-to-date technically, there is always something to learn or improve, whether it's presentation techniques, consultancy discussions, or reporting methods.
The ultimate goal is for you to operate independently as a specialist at our clients' locations or from our office in Naarden. Initially, you will be deployed in our Managed Services department, where several extensive and complex (cloud) data platforms are under management. Here, you will further master the ins and outs of the trade and open source databases. Gradually, you will increasingly take on consultancy assignments. Initially, under guidance, such as a one-day tuning, a HealthCheck, or QuickScan, until you perform the first real clustering implementation. Throughout the entire process, we will train, coach, and guide you to reach this level.
We facilitate and reimburse all your education and training. We will customize the education package with you, depending on your current knowledge and skills. Some of the things we can include are:
In addition, it is essential in the open-source world to engage with the community of the open-source project. Moreover, you learn the most from inspiring examples, best practices, and practical stories. Therefore, we visit together with you:
