About FOSDEM
FOSDEM is a two-day event organized by volunteers to promote the widespread use of free and open-source software. Typically held in the beautiful city of Brussels, Belgium, FOSDEM is widely recognized as the premier conference in Europe in this field.
What is FOSDEM?
FOSDEM is a free and non-commercial event, organized by the community for the community. Its goal is to provide developers and free and open-source software communities with a platform to:
- Connect with other developers and projects;
- Stay informed about the latest developments in the world of free software;
- Stay informed about the latest developments in the world of open source;
- Attend engaging lectures and presentations on various topics by project leaders and committers;
- Promote the development and benefits of free software and open-source solutions.
Participation and attendance are completely free, although the organizers gratefully accept donations and sponsorships.
Developer Rooms
The FOSDEM team places great importance on enabling free and open-source software developers from around the world to meet in person.
To facilitate this, we have set up developer rooms (devrooms) equipped with network/internet connections and projectors, where teams can gather and present their projects. Devrooms provide a space for teams to discuss, hack, and publicly share their latest directions, lightning talks, updates, and discussions. We believe these gatherings offer significant benefits to developers.
Program
Each year, FOSDEM hosts a wide variety of activities. On this page, you’ll find an overview with links to more information about the scheduled events. All times are in CET (UTC+1).
FOSDEM is a highly dynamic conference. This edition features 203 speakers, 186 events, and 74 tracks.
The activities take place across 40 rooms, and a detailed overview of room occupancy by track is also available.
The sessions and activities fall into the following categories: keynotes, main tracks, developer rooms, lightning talks, stands, and BOFs (Birds of a Feather sessions).
For a complete (and busy) overview, there’s a page listing all events. A list of all speakers is also available.
Livestream
During the event, the live streaming page is updated every few minutes to display what is currently scheduled in each room.
Keynotes
Like almost every other conference, FOSDEM invites speakers to start the day with presentations on less technical but still interesting topics from the open-source world. The closing keynote at the end of the conference helps everyone process the wealth of valuable information gathered over the weekend.
