It had been a while since a real PGDay had taken place in the Netherlands. Last Friday, September 13, was the day. With a wonderful warmup meetup on Thursday evening, September 12, as the kickoff of the event at Pakhuis de Zwijger.
OptimaData was the main sponsor of this PGDay Lowlands and, in addition, Gerard Zuidweg was a member of the program committee who, among other things, reviewed submitted papers and handled speaker selection.
In addition to a series of high-level technical sessions, there was room to meet, catch up and gather information at the sponsor booths.
To motivate visiting sponsors, a “raffle” was organized and each visitor could have their “conference passport” stamped for a chance to win a real lego package!
Pakhuis de Zwijger is a wonderful location for such an event and both the lunch and the after-dinner drinks were extremely well arranged.
There was also access to a livestream of the entire event, still available to watch via this link (until all individual sessions are uploaded via the PGDay Lowlands account): https://www.youtube.com/@PGEU
All individual sessions can also be viewed at this link: https://www.youtube.com/@PGDayLowlands
There was a nice crowd at our booth. Event visitors who wanted to get to know us but also visitors we have known (for years) to catch up and to get our unique Multi-tool pen. We also received a number of new registrations for the new Blue Elephant Pack group of 2025.
In our opinion, a very successful event where we could see how popular PostgreSQL is in the Netherlands but also how involved the Dutch community is in this open source project.
